Build a career that reflects your interests, strengths and expertise

Many psychologists find themselves with ideas that don’t fit neatly into traditional career pathways.

You might be thinking about writing, developing workshops, creating resources, building a specialist area of expertise, growing a private practice, exploring media opportunities, or simply finding a way of working that feels more aligned with who you are.

My mentoring sessions offer a space to think these ideas through with someone who has built an independent portfolio career spanning clinical practice, writing, consultancy, media work and public speaking.

Together, we can explore what’s possible, overcome barriers to progress, and develop a path that feels both ambitious and sustainable.

Who is mentoring for?

I work with psychologists at all career stages who are looking to develop ideas, projects or opportunities beyond their day-to-day clinical role.

This might include:

  • Psychologists exploring opportunities beyond traditional pathways
  • Early and mid-career psychologists developing a niche area of expertise
  • Practitioners interested in writing, public engagement or media work
  • Psychologists considering private practice or independent work
  • Clinicians developing workshops, resources, training or digital products
  • Professionals seeking greater confidence, clarity and direction in their career

You don’t need to have a fully formed plan before reaching out. Often the most valuable conversations begin with a sense that there’s something you’d like to create, explore or pursue, but you’re not quite sure how to take the next step.

Topics we might explore

Every session is tailored to your goals and interests, but common themes include:

  • Building a distinctive professional identity and area of expertise
  • Developing ideas, projects, workshops or resources
  • Writing, speaking and public engagement
  • Expert media work and working with journalists
  • SEO and helping the right people discover your work online
  • Starting or growing a private practice
  • Building confidence, visibility and professional opportunities
  • Creating a sustainable and fulfilling portfolio career

My approach

I’m endlessly curious about the different ways psychology can be applied in the world.

Some of the most interesting conversations I’ve had with fellow psychologists haven’t been about therapy at all. They’ve been about travel, design, media, education, technology, business and the many other contexts where psychological thinking can make a meaningful contribution.

When we work together, I genuinely want to understand what you’re building, exploring or becoming curious about. Whether it’s a business idea, a writing project, a specialist area of practice, a workshop, a website or a new career direction, I enjoy digging into the detail and thinking it through alongside you.

The mentoring process is collaborative. I’ll ask questions, challenge assumptions, offer perspectives and help you connect ideas that may not initially seem related. Together, we can explore both the practical and psychological aspects of moving an idea forward.

Alongside my work as a Clinical Psychologist, I’ve built an independent portfolio career spanning clinical practice, writing, consultancy, speaking and media work. I’ve learned first-hand about developing a public-facing professional profile, working with journalists, creating content for different audiences and helping people find that content through thoughtful SEO and online visibility.

Through this work, I’ve learned that some of the most interesting opportunities emerge at the intersection of psychology and other disciplines. I love helping fellow psychologists explore those intersections and discover how their expertise might be applied in new, creative and unexpected ways.

What you can expect

A mentoring session is less about receiving a set of instructions and more about creating space for thoughtful exploration.

By the end of our conversation, you might leave with:

  • Greater clarity about your next steps
  • Fresh perspectives on a challenge or opportunity
  • Practical ideas you can put into action
  • A clearer sense of your strengths and positioning
  • Greater confidence in pursuing a project or direction that matters to you

My hope is that you’ll leave feeling energised, supported and better able to move forward with whatever you’re working on.
